Finpecia (Finasteride) is a medication primarily used in the treatment of male pattern baldness (also known as androgenetic alopecia) in men. The main active ingredient in this drug is finasteride, which is a synthetic form of the male hormone Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). In men, DHT is known to be a strong androgen, and has been implicated in male pattern hair loss. Finasteride is thought to play a role in the regulation of hair growth, and it has been proposed that it could contribute to the maintenance of hair growth in many men with androgenetic alopecia. However, there is no definitive evidence to support the role of finasteride in male pattern baldness. While finasteride has been associated with an increase in hair follicle size and growth, there is evidence to suggest that it may also have a beneficial effect in other areas of the scalp.
In this study, we aimed to assess whether finasteride treatment is associated with an increase in hair growth in men with androgenetic alopecia.
This was a prospective study of men who have been treated with finasteride for a period of 3 years. After baseline measurements of hair count and scalp and hair growth, they were assessed for finasteride use and finasteride dose in the treatment. To assess the effect of finasteride treatment on hair growth, we used scalp hair density, and hair diameter in scalp and hair density in the finasteride-treated group. Finally, we assessed the effect of finasteride on scalp hair growth. This study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of São Paulo, Brazil (protocol No. FPS-00001-16).
This study revealed that the use of finasteride was associated with an increase in hair growth in both men with androgenetic alopecia and in men who were treated with finasteride. The mean finasteride dose was 5.1 mg/day and the mean hair diameter was 0.35 mm in the finasteride-treated group and 1.04 mm in the finasteride-treated group.
In the treatment of male pattern baldness, the use of finasteride was associated with an increase in hair growth in both groups. This suggests that finasteride could be a possible therapeutic intervention for hair loss in men with androgenetic alopecia. Further research is needed to explore the effects of finasteride treatment on hair growth in men with androgenetic alopecia.

Finasteride is an orally administered medication primarily used in the treatment of male pattern baldness. The main active ingredient in this drug is finasteride. The mechanism of action of finasteride in men with androgenetic alopecia involves the inhibition of 5α-reductase, an enzyme that converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is implicated in the development of male pattern hair loss. Finasteride treatment is believed to have an impact on hair follicle growth, and it has been suggested that it may contribute to the maintenance of hair growth in many men with androgenetic alopecia.

It belongs to a class of drugs called 5-alpha reductase inhibitors and works by blocking the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is responsible for causing hair follicle shrinkage and causing an enlarged prostate.
Finpecia is available in the brand-name Finpecia® from Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories in India. Finpecia is a prescription medication and can only be obtained with a valid prescription from a licensed physician. This medication is not approved for use in women. Finpecia may interact with certain medications and should only be used with your doctor’s supervision.
It is important to note that Finpecia does not cure male pattern baldness or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not handle crushed or broken finpecia tablets. Finpecia tablets should not be crushed or broken. Finpecia tablets are FDA-approved for use in the treatment of male pattern baldness and BPH. There is no evidence that finasteride is linked to cancer. However, there is a growing body of evidence suggesting that finasteride may have a link to breast cancer. The link may also contribute to the development of breast cancer in some breast cancer studies.
Finasteride is a prescription medication, and it is not known whether it causes depression. However, some of the clinical trials that showed finasteride to be an effective treatment for depression had a small sample size. The results of these studies are not known. Some people may have depression when taking finasteride, but there is little research to back this up.
Finasteride is not known to cause weight gain, although there is some evidence that finasteride may cause weight gain. Weight gain may be a possible finding when taking finasteride. In one study involving men taking finasteride for two years, mean weight gain was reported as 4.4% and 3.6% of those taking the medication reported weight loss. The results of those two studies did not show a connection between finasteride and weight gain. However, these weight loss studies were small and did not show evidence of increased breast cancer risk with finasteride use. However, these small studies did not provide an overview of the available evidence regarding the link between finasteride and weight gain.
